Patience is the key to Thrifty Shopping

It is often hard to resist that new outfit when it first goes on display in the department store. The colors will catch your eye and you will no doubt be attracted to the trendy design. Remember though, when the new spring or summer line comes out you are going to pay a premium to take that item home. Waiting just a few weeks can save you a great deal of money.

The principles in retail have not changed much at all in the last 100 years and so has their security systems. When an item is placed on the shelf or clothing rack, the price starts out at the highest level it is ever going to be.Companies will then mark down prices to move inventory but you never hear of a store marking up the price. If you want to save, you are going to have to be patient.

Being a savvy shopper means sacrificing being the first to show up at a club or party in that hot new ensemble. It does not mean however that you can’t wear the latest fashion. It typically only takes two or three weeks for a store to start marking down merchandise and that means savings for you. Even just a 15 or 20% reduction can mean significant savings when you are talking about an outfit that originally sells for $100 dollars or more.

The biggest savings you are going to find are at the end of the season. In summer for example, the shorts and bathing suits will be marked down 50% beginning in July which means you can still wear them all through August and have them for next year.
